This committee is an agent for peace and tolerance, responsible for the pacification of the armed forces through dialogue and a commitment to harmony and brotherhood, emphasized in the Principles set forth in the United Nations Charter. It considers all disarmament and international security matters within the scope of the Charter or relating to the powers and functions of any other organ of the United Nations.
It is expected in this committee to open the minds of the delegates to question, debate and participate in the security problems that affect the world. Delegates should be critical people, who strive for peace and security with passion, and above all, humanity.
Day 1
(political, DISEC) A strong speech:
The
atmosphere in the room was tense, expectant and impatient. Thus began the
speech of the delegation of Yemen revolutionary committee, which has left every
delegate astonished, including the honorable presidents. The protocol went as
established, the delegates were called one by one and given the specific time
to give their speech. Every position was cleared and all expectations for the
debate were told. It went normally this way until the speech from the Yemen
delegation began.
Starting
with a strong tone, the delegation greeted all presents and quoted from Paul
Valéry "what most irritates tyrants is the inability to put crickets to
the thought of their subordinates". A clear position was presented as this
delegation also stated to all the presents that all the conflict has happened
for a reason, overall the Yemen revolutionary committee described the situation
as necessary and. A cause of the changing world of today.
(Farandula, DISEC)The funny delegate:
The delegation of Kuwait definitely outstands from all the other delegations, not because of his arguments or speech but because of his funny comments. "Saudi Arabia, delegate, not Arabia Saudita" had to tell him the president during a crisis. Even the delegate participated one time just to tell the presidents the Russia Federation was using without permission his cellphone, how Russia glanced back at the delegate was memorable.
His interventions make the whole room laugh, including the presidents. When the presidents call for order in the room he still talks with his funny expressions.
Although the delegation of Kuwait hasn't provided important opinions about the conflict, he definitely brings laughs to the commission and reminds everyone that the model is not only for debates, but to have fun too.
Day 2
A critic situation:
After a good start where delegates were achieving an agreement and slowly getting into concrete solutions for the Yemeni revolution, when, with no expectation, a crisis was reported. The Yemen revolutionary committee allied with Al-Qaeda, in addition, it was reported that Saudi Arabia was secretly supporting the rebels in Yemen.
The whole commission that was leading a peaceful debate, went into a strong discussion full of betrays and disagreements. Not only that, but lately Al-Qaeda send a message from the minister's house, where they required all countries to get out of the conflict or they would attack them too.
Instead of what was firstly required by Al-Qaeda, the delegations were proposing to defend and do not get back by this threat. The United Kingdom delegate called for the rise of all delegates against this group. Although many delegates were looking forward to listen to Al-Qaeda, the idea of getting against this group was spreading to the whole group.
Solutions and an unexpected turn:
The debate in DISEC was going normally, every block knew their allies, interests and objectives, until a crisis was informed to the presidents. This crisis was a total surprise for all the presents, as it totally turned the tables of what was already stablished.
The crisis consisted of a report about some decisions the president of the United States took. Donald Trump cut any direct relationship with Saudi Arabia and the government of Yemen. Instead, he established a military and economic relationship with the Yemen revolutionary committee and his allies. All delegates were fast to find solutions not only for the crisis established, but the main theme of the commission.
The crisis was given a paper work from each side, consisting both of similar solutions. Both stated that the conflict was a humanitarian crisis and recognized the lack of proper communication due to their different perceptions of their religion, which plays a principal role on the development of the conflict. Finally proposed as solutions a clarification of both sides on their interests and a peaceful dialogue that the UN will constantly intervene to give final point to this problem.
